Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of GrandChess (the "Service"), provided by GrandChess ("we", "us", "our"), with registered address at Trompstraat 32, 3814 SP Amersfoort, The Netherlands, registration number 42114833. By using the Service you enter into an agreement with us on these Terms.

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. You confirm that you are of legal age in your jurisdiction, or that you have permission from a parent or guardian.

2. The Service

GrandChess is a chess improvement platform. It imports your games from Chess.com and Lichess (or from PGN files you upload), analyses them, and provides reports, insights, and personalised training such as puzzles, drills, and exams to help you improve.

3. Free and Premium features

The Service offers both free features and paid Premium features. We may change which features are free or Premium over time. Where a feature requires Premium, you will be told before you are charged.

4. Subscriptions, payments and cancellation

Premium is offered as a subscription. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com, which is the Merchant of Record for all orders. Paddle handles payments, billing, tax, invoicing, and customer service inquiries relating to purchases. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time, and your Premium access will continue until the end of the current billing period. Payment and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle's Checkout Buyer Terms and our Refund Policy.

5. Your responsibilities

You agree to:

• Provide accurate account information and keep your credentials secure;
• Only connect chess accounts and upload games that you have the right to use;
• Use the Service lawfully and not for fraudulent or abusive purposes;
• Not interfere with the security of the Service (malware, probing, scraping, or DoS);
• Not reverse engineer, resell, or circumvent technical limits of the Service.

6. Intellectual property

We retain all right, title, and interest in the Service, including its software, design, and branding. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for your personal chess improvement. You keep ownership of the games you submit; you grant us a limited licence to process them solely to provide the Service to you.

7. Availability of the Service

We work to keep the Service available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features, and we may perform maintenance that temporarily limits access. Imports and analysis also depend on third-party services (such as Chess.com and Lichess), which may be unavailable at times.

8. Accuracy of analysis

Chess analysis, evaluations, move classifications, and generated insights are produced by engines and AI models and may contain errors or omissions. They are intended to support your learning, not to be a definitive or professional assessment. You are responsible for how you use the insights we provide.

9. Account termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access for breach of these Terms, non-payment, or security or fraud risk. On termination, your right to use the Service ends. You can request deletion of your data as described in our Privacy Policy.

10. Warranties and liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Our aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, death, or personal injury where such limitation is prohibited by law.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version is always available on this page, and material changes will be communicated where reasonably possible.
