Account Deletion

At GrandChess, we respect your right to control your personal data. You can request the deletion of your account and associated data at any time. This page explains how the process works and what will be removed.

How to delete your account

If your account has a self-service deletion option inside the app, you can start the process from your account settings. After you confirm the request, your account and data will be scheduled for deletion.

If self-service deletion is not available in your version of the app, you can request deletion by emailing us directly (see below).

Please send the request from the email address associated with your account so we can verify your identity. We will confirm receipt and process your request as quickly as possible.

What will be deleted

When your account is deleted, the following data is permanently removed:

• Your account information (email, name, profile picture);
• Your profile data (display name, preferences, themes, language);
• Linked Chess.com and Lichess usernames and imported games;
• Game analyses, reports, and generated insights;
• Training progress, puzzle history, streaks, and improvement profiles;
• Any saved settings or custom content tied to your account.

Data we may need to retain

In some cases, we are required or permitted by law to retain certain data even after account deletion:

• Payment and transaction records — kept for tax, accounting, and legal compliance purposes (typically up to 7 years);
• Security logs — retained for a limited period to help prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents;
• Data required by law — if we are legally obligated to preserve specific information.

Wherever possible, retained data is anonymised or stripped of personal identifiers so it can no longer be linked to you.

Deletion timeline

We aim to complete account deletion within 30 days of receiving a verified request. Some data may be removed sooner, while legal retention records are kept for the required period only.

Cancellation window

If you change your mind shortly after requesting deletion, contact us as soon as possible. Once deletion is fully processed, recovery is not possible.
